Please join us in welcoming Dr. Corey Harkins to our team of Marietta, Georgia, plastic surgeons this August.
A native of East Cobb, Dr. Harkins was a proud Walton High School Raider, where he played cornerback on the football team. He went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame in 2004, where he won the Notre Dame Bengal Bouts boxing tournament. Dr. Harkins graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 2008 and did his plastic surgery residency at the University of South Florida. During his time at USF, he met his wife, Dr. Shanil Harkins. Shanil is a gastroenterologist and will be joining GI Specialists of Georgia, also in Marietta.

Fat Transfer 101

Have you ever wished that you could take fat from one part of your body, such as your abdomen, and move it to another? While many women have written it off as a fantasy, fat transfer, also called fat grafting, is a very real procedure that’s rapidly gaining popularity throughout the country.
Fat transfer begins when a surgeon harvests fat via liposuction. At our Marietta, GA practice, fat for transfer is often harvested from the abdomen or thighs. Once the fat is harvested, the surgeon uses a special process to purify it. The fat is then injected into the targeted areas. Fat transfer is most often used to augment the:
 

  • Breasts
  • Buttocks
  • Face

Because the procedure uses the patient’s own fat, the potential for adverse reactions is minimized, and our patients love their natural-looking results.
