As a Georgia local, Dr. Corey Harkins is proud to serve the people of his home state as an esteemed board-certified plastic surgeon at Plastic Surgery Center of the South. Dr. Harkins is known for his warm, welcoming demeanor and unique blend of leading-edge innovations and time-tested surgical techniques.
Training and Education
Dr. Harkins graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame before going on to medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed a rigorous 6-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he completed additional training in reconstructive surgery, microsurgery, and maxillofacial surgery.

Special Clinical Interests
Dr. Harkins is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a distinction awarded only to those plastic surgeons who have completed training in plastic surgery and passed rigorous board exams. While in medical school, Dr. Harkins was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, which accepts only the top academic performers.
In addition, Dr. Harkins serves as the Section Chair of Plastic Surgery at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. The Tampa Veterans Administration honored him with a gold star for service.

Dr. Harkins is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, an elite professional society of board-certified plastic surgeons. He has also contributed to his field through academic scholarship, participating in multiple research studies on topics such as breast reconstruction after mastectomy.
More than a Surgeon
In his hometown of East Cobb, Dr. Harkins played cornerback on the Walton High School football team. He is also an accomplished boxer and was a welterweight champion in Notre Dame’s famous Bengal Bouts. During his residency in Florida, Dr. Harkins met his wife, gastroenterologist Dr. Shanil Harkins. They are the proud parents of two sons.
