Summer = Sunscreen

Summer is officially here, along with all those outdoor activities and vacation plans. It’s time to remember that we should have a healthy respect for the sun. While sunshine brings some powerful health benefits, overexposure can have potentially dangerous side effects on your skin. Sunscreen can protect your skin against skin cancer and premature aging. Your skin is exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays every time you go outside, even on cloudy days. Here are some healthy reminders:Always avoid sunburn. Repeated sunburns in children and very fair-skinned people can cause melanoma later in life.
1. Always avoid sunburn. Repeated sunburns in children and very fair-skinned people can cause melanoma later in life.
2. Choose sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher, is water resistant, and provides broad-spectrum coverage (which means it protects you from UVA and UVB rays).
3. Apply sunscreen generously before going outdoors. It takes approximately 15 minutes for your skin to absorb the sunscreen and protect you. Reapply at least every 2 hours to remain protected or immediately after swimming or excessively sweating.
4. Apply sunscreen to all bare skin. Remember your neck, face, ears, legs, and the tops of your feet. For lips, apply a lip balm.
If you are going to be out in the sun for a longer period of time, wear a hat to protect your face and light colored clothing that blocks the sun and helps keep you cool.

Independence Day is a day of family celebrations, picnics, barbecues and honoring the tradition of American freedom. Activities associated with this day include watermelon or hotdog eating competitions and sporting events such as baseball, 3-legged races, swimming, and tug-of-war. Many communities finish with a bang in the evening through an extraordinary fireworks display accompanied by patriotic music.
Independence Day is when the people of the United States express and give thanks for the freedom and liberties fought by the first generation of many of today’s Americans. In 1775, people in New England began fighting the British for their independence. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress secretly voted for independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was first published 2 days later on July 4, 1776.
What are your plans for the Fourth of July? We would love to hear about them on our Facebook page . We hope you and your family have a safe and festive celebration!

See a Slimmer You

Summer is here, shorts and short sleeves are your attire, and your bathing suit is on underneath. But are you avoiding each mirror you walk past? Liposuction or CoolSculpting® could be the solution for you. What is the difference?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise. We can treat the chin, neck, cheeks, upper arms, back, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. The best candidates are in good health, with firm, elastic skin. You will wear a surgical compression garment after your surgery. In most cases, patients return to work after a few days and then are cleared for all normal activities after about 3 weeks.

CoolSculpting , on the other hand, is a non-surgical fat reduction treatment, using controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat. No needles, no surgery, and no downtime, anesthesia, or incisions. The procedure is effective on many of the same body parts as liposuction – particularly around the midsection, back, flanks, and thighs – and patients love the easy treatment process. The procedure takes only 1 hour and you can return to your normal activities immediately. Although results aren’t as extensive as with liposuction, CoolSculpting is perfect for certain candidates.
