With Mother’s Day approaching, we thought it was a great opportunity to discuss one of the hottest trends in cosmetic plastic surgery in Atlanta: the Mommy Makeover. This procedure is becoming a popular choice for moms who want to reclaim their pre-baby figures after having children. Read on to find out what makes the Mommy Makeover so beneficial.
What it is: After childbirth, women may notice that their breasts have lost volume, that their stomachs are no longer flat and that they have some new pockets of fat that weren’t there before. A Mommy Makeover is designed specifically to target areas of the body that are affected by pregnancy, such as the abs, hips and breasts.
What it entails: Our surgeons customize Mommy Makeovers by combining a variety of treatments to address each mom’s personal problem areas. The recovery time: Because a Mommy Makeover usually consists of several procedures performed simultaneously, the recovery time is shorter overall than if each procedure were done separately. Our surgeons usually advise moms to take 1 to 2 weeks off work after the surgery and to avoid strenuous exercise for 4 to 6 weeks.
The side effects: Side effects will depend on which procedures are performed, but generally they will include some bruising, swelling and soreness. Dressings and bandages are placed around the treated areas to help the body heal more rapidly.
The Results: After a Mommy Makeover, our patients will often enjoy larger, fuller breasts and a slimmer body contour. They no longer have excess skin and fat around their stomachs and can’t wait to get into their bathing suits.
